Medical Assistant - Intake

MUST:



The Medical Assistant will have experience:



Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the practice



Exudes positive, helpful attitude to patients, staff and provider.



Responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service and fostering a positive workplace atmosphere among all practice staff



Maintains the strictest confidentiality in all aspects of work, including patients and personnel.



Completed courses in anatomy, kinesiology, sports medicine, physical/occupational therapy or athletic training preferred



Two years' experience in an orthopedic clinical position preferred



DUTIES:



Works with the physicians and clinical team in delivering patient care; specifically, is responsible for applying and removing casting as ordered by providers



Greets patients in the waiting room and escort them to the exam room



Directs patient to surgery scheduling and/or front desk for checkout



Maintains order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room, and prepares exam room for patients to enter



Makes casts and splints by bending, forming and shaping materials to prescribed specifications.



Fit, test and evaluate applications on patients and adjust for proper fit, function and comfort



Provides and scans proper paperwork to the chart for provider's review



Takes and records vitals as per provider's request



Pulls up x-rays pertaining to the patient's care



Assists patient with clothing when necessary



Disposes of bio-hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation and replaces sharps containers when existing containers are full



Answers telephones in patient areas



Attends required meetings and participated as requested
