Position Summary:

The candidate will provide System Administration support to NSWC Crane in Crane, Indiana area. Support includes but not limited to Windows, Linux, Virtualization, Database and Networking support for the on premise data center as well as the public cloud assets.


Clearance Requirement:

Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Analyze application/project data requirements and specification.

Design, normalize, develop, install and modify databases.

Maintain, monitor, tune, and perform backup/recovery of databases.

Install, configure, and maintain database management system operating systems and software.

Perform analysis for planning anticipated changes in database design due to data capacity.

Develop database scripts and stored procedures.

Develop and administer data standards, policies and procedures.

Develop and implement data mining and data warehousing programs.

Evaluate and provide recommendations on new database technologies and architectures.

Maintain data logistics support as required on all databases.

Provide response and resolution to assigned Help Desk service requests.

Configure and implement Cybersecurity (CS) Assessment and Authorization (A&A) security controls in accordance with local and DOD procedures.

Install and administer hardware, operating systems, and software applications.

Manage computer accounts, privileges and system access.

Manage system resources in the monitoring of performance, capacity, availability, serviceability and recoverability.

Implement security procedures, resolve hardware and software interface and interoperability problems.

Ensure system availability, functionality, integrity and efficiency, and maintain system configuration and documentation.

Manage the installation and integration of system fixes, updates, and enhancements.

Provide IT support for servers to ensure that operability requirements are up to date with the latest patches and firmware and that the server hardware is configured properly.

Provide IT support services for current and emerging technologies.

Configure and implement Cybersecurity (CS) Assessment & Authorization (A&A) security controls in accordance with local and DOD procedures.

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

Must be IAT Level II or IAT Level III compliant (Security+, CISSP, etc.)

Some positions may require an industry Database certification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other Technical discipline required

Three (3) years of full-time professional experience working with the configuration, deployment, and operation and maintenance of Microsoft SQL

At least One (1) year of professional experience in database administration in Cloud environments

Experience performing Cyber Security procedures on Database systems to include integration, auditing, and monitoring of security controls ensuring DoD and Navy cyber security compliance.

Experience troubleshooting Database Systems

Preferred Education, Skills, and Experience:

Seven (7) years of full-time professional experience working with the configuration, deployment, and operation and maintenance of Microsoft SQL

At least (2) years of professional experience in database administration in Cloud environments 

Physical Demands and Expectations:

Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 15 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting

Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance

Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment
