Overview

CTG is seeking to fill a Hardware Developer (System Z) opening for our client in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Location: Poughkeepsie, NY (Onsite and weekend work required when needed.)
Duration: Ongoing contract

Duties:

• Perform hardware verification and IO Recovery testing on Z system hardware.

• Provide test floor support for various activities, including:

  • Performing error injects and documenting outcomes

  • Code loads and testing

  • Debugging and troubleshooting issues

  • Ticket creation, follow up, and collaboration with Development counterparts on resolutions

  • HMC (Hardware Management Console) and SE (System Environment) installations

  • SE/HMC booting and troubleshooting

  • Support for Trenton hardware and related activities

• Perform other activities as needed

Skills:

• Proficiency in hardware verification and testing procedures

• Strong understanding of Z system hardware and architecture

• Experience with HMC/SE booting and troubleshooting

• Familiarity with IO Recovery testing and code load procedures

• Ability to work with hardware and software tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting

Experience:

• Prior experience in hardware development, verification, or testing, particularly in mainframe or Z system environments

• Hands-on experience with hardware testing and troubleshooting, including HMC/SE installations and booting

• Experience supporting test floor activities and handling complex system hardware issues

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
