The Discovery Genomics team in the Precision Biology group at is seeking a highly motivated temporary Associate Scientist to join the wet-lab team at our research facility in South San Francisco. This associate scientist will work on-site with an energetic research team to generate high quality data by using cutting-edge platforms for nucleic-acid research, next-generation sequencing (NGS), and single-cell multi-omics.



Responsibilities

" RNA/DNA isolation and hybridization, PCR, NGS library construction, single-cell multi-omics experiments

" Operation of sample quality control instruments, high-throughput sequencers, automated liquid handlers, and maintenance/inventory of common laboratory material stocks

" Sample/project organization and clear documentation of experimental work using spreadsheets and presentation software



Basic Qualifications



Master s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, cell biology, or related fields

OR

Bachelor s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, or cell biology and at least 2 years of scientific experience in the related fields



Preferred Qualifications



" Excellent verbal and written communication skills and collaborates well in fast-paced teams

" Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple experimental workflows simultaneously

" Applies logical experimental design principles and independently troubleshoots experiments

" Adept with dilution calculations, weight to molarity conversions, NGS coverage calculations, and general quantitative reasoning

" Proficiency with genomics/transcriptomics, DNA/RNA barcoding, single-cell multi-omics, and functional genomics is a plus
