The Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations (OUIO) administers Ohio's unemployment insurance program, which provides short-term income to unemployed workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. It reduces the hardship felt by families during periods of temporary unemployment and bolsters the local economies by maintaining the purchasing power of the unemployed worker. What You'll Do:
This position resides in the Finance Section's Accounting unit within OUIO's Performance & Systems area. The major responsibilities of this position include:
Telephones: You receive and respond to questions via the telephone from unemployed workers, state/federal agencies, and financial institutions as it relates to the duties within the unit.
Bookkeeping: You update accounting records, enter repayments, and request bank transfers for appropriate amounts of cash to be available for unemployment benefits issued. Your work output is subject to state and federal audits.
Reporting: You prepare and transmit financial and statistical reports to state and federal agencies.
Multi-tasking/Time Management: You work on assignments, assist internal and external customers via electronic mail, and answer the telephone throughout your workday.
Lead Worker: You monitor and assist Financial Analysts and Financial Associates with daily tasks.
Successful candidates will need to possess critical basic Microsoft Excel skills along with quick and accurate data entry skills and an elevated level of attention to detail. Customer service skills are imperative in handling challenging conversations with clients who are going through hardship. You will need to be able to multi-task and be efficient in time management to do well in this position.
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. For further consideration, applicants must clearly identify how qualifications are met within the education and/or experience sections of the application. The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
Option 1: Completion of graduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field and 6 months experience or 6 months training in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
Option 2: Completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field and 18 months experience or 18 months training in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
Option 3: 42 months experience or 42 months training in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.
Option 4: 12 months experience as Financial Analyst, 66562. OR Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
Note: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 months of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications. Phenom People
