Job Details:
We are seeking candidates with experience in the energy and/or MEP industry. The candidate must have working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, lighting and other support systems for commercial and industrial facilities. Additionally, the candidate shall possess a combination of technical expertise and good communication skills. The candidate will be responsible for executing multiple projects with the expectation of completing them on schedule and within scope.
Essential Job Functions – Operational Duties:
- Perform energy audits, retro-commissioning and assist with MEP design projects.
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection and sizing for design of HVAC equipment and systems.
- Perform project management functions including managing multiple projects in tandem in terms of project scope, schedule, budget and client management.
- Perform field surveys and measurements, as required, for the preparation of MEP design drawings, development of energy audit and retro-commissioning reports.
- Review and perform engineering analysis/energy savings calculations utilizing Microsoft Excel and e Quest energy modeling software to produce tangible deliverables.
- Analyze utility bills to identify building energy consumption and potential opportunities for reduction.
- Perform feasibility, energy savings, and cost-benefit financial analyses for potential ECMs.
- Develop detailed design drawings in Auto CAD MEP, P&IDs, equipment schedules and plans and specs.
- Coordinate mechanical design drawings with other trades such as plumbing, electrical, fire protection as well as the structural, architectural, civil and any other building trades.
- Perform site visits and effectively walk-through buildings to gather data on client’s existing interior and exterior lighting systems and lighting controls.
- Review and develop energy efficiency reports for ASHRAE Level I, II and III energy audits.
- Work with vendors and contractors to obtain pricing on potential ECMs.
- Develop construction cost estimates based on industry standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on the business requirements.
The ideal candidate will satisfy the following qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3-8 years of experience in MEP or Energy Efficiency industry.
- General understanding of renewable energy systems, onsite power generation systems, HVAC systems, building management systems, lighting equipment and other energy using systems, and system interactions.
- Testing and Balancing (TAB) experience a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of Auto CAD LT and Auto CAD MEP (preferred).
- Experience with energy modeling techniques and working knowledge of energy modeling software e Quest and Trane Trace.
- Possess ability to perform physical tasks including but not limited to: standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time, reading and recording information on handwritten forms and computer screens, using hand tools (such as powered tools, measuring devices, etc.), lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, navigating in small/enclosed places, climbing stairs and ladders, and working in loud, warm and cold environments.
- Valid U. S. Driver’s License.
- Must be able to travel to job sites.
