Loans Transformation Project Manager
Function background / context:
The Institutional Credit Management (ICM) team is a critical component of First Line of Defense for wholesale lending and counterparty credit risk. ICM partners with businesses to ensure we have best-in-class risk and control capabilities. ICM also plays a key role in Transformation efforts by helping to drive a Client focus on wholesale credit risk management. Through ongoing investment in processes, controls, systems, and governance, ICM continues to further embed consistency and best practices across a Major Global Bank, driving closer alignment between our business and regulatory goals.
ICM Lending Transformation is looking for a highly skilled and dynamic Project Manager. Detailed knowledge of wholesale lending is a pre-requisite, as well as having previously managed large-scale projects. Role includes operating model design, planning and execution, resource management and budgeting, plan tracking, issue identification and escalation, preparation of materials for senior leadership, leading governance meetings, and internal and regulatory communication.
You will interact and work closely with multiple areas across the organization, including the broader Institutional Credit Management (ICM) function, business lines supported by ICM, Transaction Management, Operations, Technology and Risk, as we enhance our processes and technology to better deliver for our clients. You will provide operational and strategic leadership for the delivery of the Transformation team's initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for daily execution of critical and complex initiatives where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines or processes
• Lead remediation of existing regulatory MRAs, in partnership with MRA owners/SMEs
• Support transformation and/or risk and control agenda/priorities for the larger team
• Perform data analysis for remediation scope and monitoring
• Design remediation approach and scope, and implement remediation including creation of underlying metrics and governance processes for escalation
• Design and obtain signoff on exception processes to the overall TOM process based on regional/business nuances and use cases
• Execution of transformation to support wholesale lifecycle projects such as collateral, covenant monitoring etc
• Partner with cross function peers to create, administer, track, and eventually close projects, incl. 2nd Line Operational Risk Management and Internal Audit to ensure delivery design and execution to the highest standard
• Appropriately assess risk when decisions are made, demonstrate particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Clent, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervising the activity of others and creating accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
• Integrates subject matter and industry expertise
• Develop communication and diplomacy skills to guide and influence decision-making
• Proactively identifies emerging risks and assists the control team with resolving control gaps and issues and helps to create corrective action plans, inclusive of root cause identification and resolution
• Actively focus on process improvement, creating efficiencies, and ensuring proactive approach and partnership to audit management
• Create, manage and execute against project plan. Establish project governance, in line with broader Transformation efforts, including chairing meetings and preparing material to drive decisions on scope, processes and remediation efforts
• Oversee program communication including internal stakeholders and regulatory updates / communication
• Establish strong relationships with stakeholders across Client at all levels, businesses, and locations
Qualifications:
• Must have 6-8 years' experience in wholesale lending e.g. Transaction Management, Loan Operations
• Individual must have excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Individual must work well under tight deadlines, manage priorities, and complete assigned tasks with minimal management follow up.
• Candidate has quantitative skills with a high proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft based programs.
• Tableau or visualization tool familiarity
• Keen attention to detail
• Developed analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Client relationship and solution skills
Additional non-core qualifications which will be considered are:
• Experience in management/team lead capacity, building and developing teams within a large global team supporting wholesale lending at large financial Institution
• Strong knowledge of wholesale loan (syndicated / bilateral) product and business
• Deep knowledge of operational processes supporting Wholesale lending
• Highly developed analytical and decision-making capabilities including the ability to identify, escalate, and propose and execute solutions to complex problems
• Substantial experience working with clients under time constraints to facilitate a transaction or process.
• Proven ability to collaborate with team members, senior management and other business constituents in a steering capacity.
• Critical decision-making capabilities including the ability to identify, escalate, and propose solutions to problems
• Ability to multi-task through the practice of strong organizational and time management skills with experience in continuously following-up with various stakeholders
• Comprehensive understanding and awareness of appropriate corporate and regulatory policies in relation to Lending
• Strong influencing skills and ability to work in an environment where priorities are frequently changing
• Ability to drive change and effectively manage projects and stakeholders
Education:
• Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
