The Marketing and Development Manager takes the lead in creating marketing plans and events that build support for the Springfield Daily Citizen, plus leads annual fund development, including solicitation of individual donors and major gifts. The manager supports subscription and partnership sales efforts, and leads sponsorship sales efforts for events.

 Key job requirements:

• Four-year degree in development, marketing, communications, business, journalism or related field, or equivalent of education and experience.
• Minimum of 4 years full-time employment in a fundraising or development position, or equivalent work in a nonprofit or journalism organization.
• Must have quantifiable or demonstrated marketing/communications and events experience, or equivalent work in developing and building relationships with businesses.
• Must demonstrate ability in building relationships with businesses and individual supporters, and must be comfortable asking for donations and financial gifts.
• Must have strong analytical skills; ideally has experience using donor database and email database software, as well as experience in other technology and publishing platforms.
• Must have strong design skills, ideally in use of Canva or other design software.
