JOB DESCRIPTION: Network Communications Software Research Scientist - Job Order 3236 Research and Sciences Basking Ridge, NJ US citizenship required No clearance required $71K to $171K RESPONSIBILITIES My client is looking for an experienced software engineer with strong programming skills to help build, refactor, and enhance systems implementing distributed operations. The successful candidate will have a track record of working effectively in teams, proactively identifying issues and independently solving problems. The candidate will have demonstrably good communication skills that facilitate collaboration on large systems development efforts. Projects within the lab will typically involve technologies such as microservices, container-based orchestration, cyber security, virtualization, HTTPS/TCP/IP networking and operating system internals, thus experience with some or all of these would be a significant plus. QUALIFICATIONS: QUALIFICATIONS BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2 Degree in Computer Science, ECE, or a related field Ability to solve problems designing and implementing complex systems independently Strong system skills (Linux, Windows, shell scripting, VM technologies) Experience demonstrating implemented capabilities to customers Strong software development skills (C/C++, Java, scripting languages: Python/Perl). The term is commonly used as a synonym for computers and computer networks, but it also encompasses other information distribution technologies such as television and telephones. Several industries are associated with information technology, including computer hardware, software, electronics, semiconductors, internet, telecom equipment, and e-commerce. Humans have been storing, retrieving, manipulating, and communicating information since the Sumerians in Mesopotamia developed writing in about 3000 BC, but the term information technology in its modern sense first appeared in a 1958 article published in the Harvard Business Review; authors Harold J. Leavitt and Thomas L. Whisler commented that "the new technology does not yet have a single established name. We shall call it information technology (IT)."
