Highres Biosolutions is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer with expertise in automation, robotics, and machine design. A strong product design and development background is a must. You will work among a talented cross functional team bringing novel robotics and lab automation products for the life science industry to market.

Complete design of new prototypes and concepts for automation products geared towards the life science industry. Develop and manage project schedules and budgets.  Complete mechanical designs for robotics and complex automated systems that meet performance, cost, quality and reliability requirements.  Develop mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, drawings and specifications of complex assemblies and parts.  Perform design validation through modeling, simulation and prototype testing.  Verify that product performance meets engineering specifications.  Provide product design and generate supporting documentation, including solid models, drawings, BOMs, engineering reports, test plans and test reports.  Participate on failure analysis and corrective action teams.


BSME and 12+ years or MSME and 8+ years of experience in New Product Development machine design and automation design.

Must have a strong grasp of mechanical engineering principals, machine design, and proven experience with solving complex problems.

Ability to work without supervision as lead on projects or several components of a larger program.

Experience and proven track record in selection of motion components including bearings, ball screws, belts, and servo motors.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Expertise in solid modeling practice, Solidworks / EPDM preferred.

Experience with Solidworks Simulation for static, dynamic, and thermal analysis, CFD a plus.

Strong understanding and practical knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 and GD&T.

Experience with MS Project and project management.

Proficient with outlook, and MS Office including, Word, Excel, and Power Point.

Proven ability to take requirements from prototypes thru to production following a Phase Gate development approach.

Experience with Procure, build, DVT, and RDT testing of new products or modifications to existing products.

Excel in a fast paced, dynamic environment as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Strong planning, organizational and interpersonal skills. 

Must be self-motivated with ability to multi-task.  Proven track record of developing automation products including the oversite of projects and cross functional development teams including electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and supply chain. 

Ability to travel up 10-15% domestically and internationally.
