Job Description SemahTronix LLC Assembler (2201) Job Description Exempt: No Department: Production Reports To: Production Supervisor Location: Flippin, Arkansas GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION Performs a variety of manual and semi-automated assembly operations in connection with the assembly or manufacturer of assemblies. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under direct supervision and following instructions and procedures, reads Material Assembly Instructions (MAIs) from engineering in order to perform electronic assembly operations to form assemblies. Performs assembly operations on various subsystems and housing using the following methods: mounting, cabling, wiring, soldering, and harnessing. This duty is performed daily, about 95% of the time. May operate semi-automated assembly equipment and tools, such as hand presses, hand and power tools, measuring devices, wire crimpers, cutting and stripping equipment, special assembly fixtures and Electro-mechanical equipment. This duty is performed daily, about 95% of the time. May solder components using soldering iron, and tins stranded electronic wire ends prior to attaching connectors. This duty is performed daily, about 95% of the time. Reads and interprets Manufacturing Assembly Instructions (MAIs). Applies basic skills in procedures and techniques. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time. Responds to production errors and may troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time. May perform routine tasks such as cutting, stripping and bending electronic wires, fastening terminal connectors on wires, inserting contact pins and related activities. This duty is performed daily, about 95% of the time. May prepare labels for completed assemblies using labeling machines. May label connector per MAI. This duty is performed daily, about 95% of the time. May provide training and assistance to other assemblers in assembly operations and department procedures. This duty is performed weekly, about 2% of the time. Performs all work in accordance with plant safety policies and procedures. This duty is performed daily, about 100% of the time. Performs other duties as assigned. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Minimum requirement; general educational background without high school completion, plus 6 months related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT None. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Ability to read a limited number of words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers; Ability to write and speak simple sentences as a means for basic communication. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers. CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS Ability to use common sense understanding in order to carry out simple multi-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with limited variables. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Under immediate supervision, with short assignments of work at frequent interval with regular check of work. PLANNING Limited responsibility with regard to specific assignments in planning time, method, manner, and/or sequence of performance of own work operations. DECISION MAKING Performs work operations which permit infrequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and which would only affect the operating efficiency of the individual involved to a slight degree. MENTAL DEMAND Minimum mental demand. Operations requiring little attention and repeated successively at short intervals or non-repetitive, but of such a nature as to require little directed thinking. ANALYTICAL ABILITY / PROBLEM SOLVING Strictly repetitive. Repetitive activities or duties using established processes, directions or sequence of steps coupled with immediate supervision. USE OF MACHINES, EQUIPMENT AND/OR COMPUTERS Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, etc.) ACCURACY Probable errors of internal scope readily detected in normal course of work by standard check or routine crosscheck within a single department or office.
